A YOUNG Scottish backpacker was fighting for his life yesterday after he was bashed with a piece of wood outside a Home Hill hostel early on Saturday.
The 20-year-old man sustained serious head injuries when he was hit over the head with a plank of timber outside the Home Hill Backpacker hostel in Ninth St about 1.30am.

Another man, also believed to be a backpacker, suffered head injuries in the incident after being smacked in the head with a broken glass bottle.

District Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Warren Webber said it was believed several people were involved in the early-morning brawl.
He said police were now working to discover how the fight unfolded.

He said both Home Hill residents and backpackers were involved in the incident.

Insp Webber said the young Scotsman's family had been notified but he was unsure whether they would be travelling to Townsville to be by their son's side.

The manager of the hostel refused to comment on the incident.
"I've got nothing to say until something comes out of this," he said.
"The police are now investigating."

The Scottish man was reported yesterday to be in a critical condition in Townsville Hospital.
He was believed to be on holiday in North Queensland and travelling with a companion he met up with while in the country.

Home Hill councillor Robert Marriott said he did not think there was a problem with violence in the town.
He said the weekend's bashing was the first he had heard of in some time.

Naja ansonsten nicht viel neues, hab heute 28 kilo chilli gepickt (erster tag 20kg 2ter tag 22 kilo)
Werde wohl fragen morgen nochmals chilli zu machen und dann zurueck zu auberginen wechseln, weil das einfach mehr Geld bringt.
Achja was toll hier ist, man muss kaum gemuese kaufen: Gurken, Paprika, zwiebeln, tomaten,...
alles ums sonst und achja melonen auch noch.
